WHY At SILCA, one of our strongest beliefs is in the protection in your investment and more importantly, in the protection of yourself. Bar Tape should be replaced at least every year for the best performance and for safety checks of corrosion on aluminum bars or damage to carbon bars. We want to make sure that you are covered by providing the first crash replacement program for bar tape.
Inspired by advancements in running shoe foam and F1 tires as well as our own research into rolling efficiency, impedance and damping, we realized that new materials technology could allow for a significant improvement in bar tape. Using a laminate of SILCAthane, SILCAlon and 3M Visco-elastic adhesive instead of a single foam extrusion, the tape can be optimized across a range of desired features. The resulting tape has a softer, more comfortable feel, higher wet and dry grip, better vibration isolation, and 3-5x the durability of existing tape materials. Since the actual wrap of the tape can be as important as the tape itself, we’ve also developed a full adhesive backed ‘butterfly’ to better cover the back of the lever clamp area without adding bulk, a high grip finishing tape and expanding aluminum/composite end plugs to ensure every detail is perfect.
The tape really is premium and you can feel the how nicely you can wrap it. It stays secure on the handlebar and it doesn't really wears down. just a great tape and in full black look so good. nice touch are the bar ends in aluminum

The quality I expect from Silca.
Assuming this tape lasts a while it will be the best I have tried. I did a 44 mile ride after wrapping my handlebars and my hands felt just as good at the end of the ride as they did at the start, this was the day after doing a 55 mile ride with Supacaz so I was expecting at least some soreness. I believe that Silca does try to put the very best product possible on the market and this tape is another shining example of that, from the end plugs to the finishing tape this stuff just looks and feels amazing. I’ve read reviews about it being difficult to wrap but I did not have an issue, I have been wrapping my own bars for a few years so my technique is pretty good. The only other tape I can compare it to is Supacaz but I found this to be more forgiving with a bit more stretch and a more durable feel. The grip is excellent and it seems the claims of vibration damping are true, as I mentioned my hands felt great the whole time and it wasn’t all smooth roads by any means. I had enough to cover my 44cm deep drop bars but I did have to go back and do less of an overlap on the first attempt, thankfully there was enough for the figure eight wrap around the hoods as well. I might not have needed the butterfly tape for the hoods but I’m glad they were there, it’s just another example of Silca’s attention to detail.
