I’ve been wondering about disc rotors in road bikes.
I’m sure you’ve seen so many pro’s went with XTR rotors in TDF, which allow them to save whopping 17g on a 160/140m set. I’m not sure this can be even counted as a „marginal†gain, when thinking of 70-80kg whole bike+rider system. They ditch the aero gains of dura ace rotors with that switch. I’ve been wondering whether they are doing the right thing, or maybe more aero rotors don’t actually matter that much because of their small size? There are also some other rotors in the market, like Galfer road rotors, which save around 40g on a set compared to Dura Ace. It doesn’t seem like much, yet it makes more sense as it saves around 20% of the part. So would you trump the aero gains for such weight gains lets say for a mountain stage? I’m curious to hear your thoughts!

I have a follow up question for a future Ask Josh Anything episode. It looks like Pete has a dual remote lockout on his Lux. On a route like Pete just crushed, under what conditions should a rider leave their suspension locked out and when should they open it up? In what conditions will a locked out suspension system descend faster than one that’s full open? Will locked suspension always lead to climbing faster?

Pete used the Squirt lube while riding but in the instructions for Squirt it says it is best to let it sit overnight and let all the water evaporate. So isn’t he just putting a bunch of watery wax on the chain? I would think another option might be better… and I’m sure YOU know better than me.
