Parts covered by SILCA Limited Warranty are considered to be subject to wear through normal use or are consumable subject to degradation through the course of their daily use.  SILCA guarantees them free from manufacturer defects for 2 years.

    Frequently asked questions

    What temperature should I heat my wax to when using StripChip?

    When using StripChip, please ensure that your wax reaches 125°C. This is the activation temperature of this product. Once your chain has been submerged in this wax blend for 10 minutes at 125°C, you will want to lower the temperature of your wax to 75°C for an additional 10 minutes before removing your chain and allowing it to cool and dry.

    Can I use StripChip with other wax addatives?

    Yes! You may use StripChip with either our Endurance Chip or Speed Chip. Please just ensure that you are folowing the StripChip instructions as it does require a higher activation temperature.

    How many chains can I wax with StripChip?

    Each piece off of the StripChip bar is compatible with one standard sized factory-new chain. Each full bar of StripChip can strip a total of six standard sized factory-new chains. If you are using an extended chain for a recumbent or tandem, please use two-three pieces of StripChip (depending on the total length of the chain) for the best results.

    How many applications of StripChip can I use in my wax?

    You can use a total of 6 applications (one full bar of StripChip) in 250-300g of wax. Once you have used a total of six applications of StripChip in your wax blend, you may continue to use this wax for any re-waxes or waxing of chains that were stripped separatly. Once you are ready to use a 7th application of StripChip, please start with fresh new wax.

    Can I use StripChip with the sous vide method?

    No. StripChip can not be used when waxing using the sous vide method. This product must reach a temperature of 125°C to be activated and this temperature can not be reached when using this method.

    When should I choose StripChip instead of Chain Stripper?

    Our StripChip is designed to be compatible to strip any factory new chain in your hot wax! This allows you to skip the manual step of stripping your chain with our Chain Stripper. If you are looking to clean a chain that was previously used, please use Chain Stripper as opposed to StripChip.

    Can I use StripChip with any chain wax?

    StripChip was designed to work with Secret Chain Blend. It is likely that it will work with other waxes but has not been tested with all waxes available on the market.

    Do I still need to degrease my chain before using StripChip?

    No. StripChip removes factory grease and waxes your chain in one step.

    How long does the StripChip process take?

    About 10 minutes! Just drop your chain in hot wax with a StripChip and it’s ready.
