Save space and weight in your tire or in your pack. TPU tubes are less than half the size of a traditional butyl tube so you can carry two tubes instead of one in your pack, or save 200+g in your tires by replacing the butyl tubes with TPU.

TPU tubes have long been a favorite of ours to keep for spares in your saddle bag because of how little space they take up in the bag.  This allows you to carry two tubes when only one would previously have fit.  The issue has long been that the plastic valves were susceptible to detaching from the tube itself, the valve cores were often pressed into plastic causing leaking issues, and the sleeve joint where the tube was joined would often fail.

Having a spare tube doesn't do you much good if when you go to use it, it falls apart.  SILCA set out to change that.  Our TPU tubes have a patented technology to mechanically attach the valve to the tube itself and a welded joint to stop failures in their tracks.  We have also used a threaded aluminum valve to help the tube resist heat from electric pumps and included a valve nut for the ultimate in a rattle-free and secure design.

TPU materials have made big strides over the last few years and have all but matched the rolling resistance efficiencies of Latex tubes or a Tubeless set up at a fraction of the weight of latex.  Our 700C tubes range from 45-62g keeping weight at an all time low while reducing rolling resistance and their tiny size for packing efficiency.

    Frequently asked questions

What size tube do I need?

The size tube that you will need will match your tire size. This is often found printed onto or into the side of the rubber casing. Our tubes are compatible with 700c/29in tires only.

What length of valve do I need?

If you have a rim with a depth under 40mm please choose the 50mm valve option. If you have a rim with a depth between 40 and 60mm please choose our 70mm valve option.

Will you be offering any any other sizes?

At this time, we only offer these tubes in two size options. We may be expanding these offerings in the future. If you have a specific size request, please email us at sales@silca.cc.

Will these fit in my Mattone seat pack?

Yes! These tubes are a perfect fit for our Mattone bags and can even fit with our Elettrico, tire levers, and a multitool.

Is the flange around the valve stem supposed to be loose?

Yes, this flange is intended to be loose around the edges.

Can I inflate this tube with CO2 or an eletric pump?

Yes, these tubes can be inflated with Co2 or an eletric pump. Please do inflate the tube in 10-15PSI incriments if using one of these inflation methods to avoid damage from heat/cold.

Are these tubes covered under warranty?

Yes, these tubes are covered under our limited two year warranty for any manufacturer defects. This does not include any coverage for punctures or failures due to improper inflation.

How do I install these tubes?

For best installation practices, please follow the installation guide found on the TPU product page on our website. For the best results, please do not inflate this tube past 4-5 PSI prior to installing it into your tire.

Can these tubes be used with sealant?

We do not recommend that these tubes are filled with or used with in comination with any sealant. When sealant is used in combination with a tube, it will likely not be able to active properly. These tubes can be used to fix a flat in a tire whose sealant has failed.

Can I use these tubes on a smaller or larger tire size?

These TPU tubes do provide a significant amount of stretch and can absolutely be used with slightly larger tires than what is listed! If you do decide to use a tube on a slightly larger tire, we would definitely recommend staying within 2-3mm of the original listed size range. We would also suggest you refrain from using these tubes on smaller tires.

Can I use these tubes on a bike with rim brakes?

Our tubes have been tested to be thick enough to safely use with rim brakes in standard riding conditions. With that being said, if you do ride where there are many very long descents where you are riding the brakes for an extended period of time (10+mins), these could get too hot and should be used with caution.
