2026 Made Bike Show: Waterford 22-Series All-Road

This bold blue Waterford Precision Cycles 22-Series TIG stainless all-road bike was a major show-stopper in Abra-Cadabra Fabrication’s Made booth. Its mesmerizing pearlescent deep-sea blue finish ripples beautifully under the exhibition lights, revealing raw steel beneath the Waterford downtube logo. 

Waterford, a revered name in American framebuilding, has recently begun a fresh chapter. Originally launched by Richard Schwinn in 1993 following the shutdown of the classic Schwinn facility, the Wisconsin-based workshop closed its doors in 2023. However, the brand has been revitalized by new owners John and David Siegrist of Abra-Cadabra Fabrication. 

Now operating out of Durango, Colorado, this father-and-son team is actively manufacturing Waterford-branded bicycles, blending traditional hand-built craftsmanship with contemporary geometry and component fitments.

Beyond the stunning paint scheme, the true magic of this blue all-road machine lies in its flawless TIG welds, representing an evolution for the newly reborn company. Historically, the Waterford 22-Series was custom lugged and brazed steel frames, but, as featured here in this show bike, there is now a TIG-welded version. 

Rather than build around steel lugs, this variant is lighter and more versatile, optimized for modern gravel and all-road riding. It’s the perfect platform to attach a plethora of our SILCA components from the tiny yet mighty titanium derailleur hanger, titanium bottle cages, handlebar tape, and a set of our new Protocol RCR tires in 700 x 34. 

By balancing light, strong steel tubes with clean, precise welds, builders can customize the frame's geometry more efficiently. Rather than modifying lugs with preexisting angles, welding tubes directly together can achieve nearly any fitment. 

This also lets Durango-based builders easily integrate modern standards such as disc brakes and internal routing, while offering wide tire clearance that traditional lugged frames can’t really accommodate. Ultimately, it blends classic steel ride quality with a minimalist, high-performance design suited to road and mixed-surface rides.

What makes this build extra special is its blend of vintage-inspired form factor and modern finish work. To complement the jewel-toned blue paint, Waterford integrated striking polished accents alongside masked downtube logos. Rather than using typical vinyl decals, Waterford left the name mark unpainted, letting the raw, brushed KVA and Reynolds 931 stainless steel underneath serve as the branding element.
