What Makes SILCA's Chain Stripper Wax Prep Different?

Prepping a chain for wax is a crucial step to ensure performance both in longevity and efficiency.  Prior to SILCA's introduction of Wax Prep products, it required a lot of chemicals.  Now we have a two step or single step waxing process to dramatically speed up the time it takes for you to get out and ride.  

Chain Stripper is a highly effective and biodegradable cleaner that leaves behind a light residue that promotes wax bonding.  This means you have a single cleaning step to get you to a clean and ready to wax chain.

For Factory Greased Chains 

For factory greased chains, StripChip really shines.  In one step it will break down factory grease and wax your chain.  This is the fastest possible option to get to riding a new waxed chain.  You can also use ChainStripper which will do a great job, but with shaking the chain in a bottle of chain stripper, rinsing it, and waxing, it will add about 10-15 minutes to the process. 

For Riders Using Hot Wax Systems

StripChip is designed to work perfectly with Chain Wax Systems if it is a new chain.  If not, the Chain Stripper is a great option.

For Riders Transitioning from Oil-Based Lubes

If transitioning from an oil-based chain, it is best to use some less expensive degreasers to get it a little cleaner.  Then transition to Chain Stripper to finish off the chain.  This may take multiple baths depending on how dirty your chain starts.  Rinse with water when done and you will be ready to wax.
