As expected.
Fits great, design and construction are as expected from Silca.
Sleek and Robust
I was tired of my previous mount for my Garmin 1030 squeaking and making noise every time I ran over a break in the pavement or a bump! I absolutely love my new Chisela mount. Both problems solved- and it looks great!
Nicely made product with some performance questions and a word of advice
First, note that I have the Standard wide (where you bolt it on to a traditional four-bolt stem), and am left wondering if my main issue might be nullified if I had one of the other version.
You can't fault the nicely forged metal that makes this up. And so far it seems to keep everything attached well without issue. That's it's main job, but it doesn't do that job any better than stock mounts; nevertheless, you're buying this because . . . well reasons that are known only to you. I'd wager that with my set-up, the stock Wahoo mount is actually a better performer than this mount. And for that reason, I had buyer's remorse fairly quickly (the price was brutal, but I thought it was worth it for reasons I'll note).
The chief concern for me was that I realised that the angle of the Wahoo was not "flat," but sitting at an angle relative the to the angle of the stem. The stock Wahoo mount can be easily altered so that its flat, and thereby gain the best aero position, by contrast, the Chisela is fixed, and it will change angle depending on your stem. This mount was marketed as being aero and all that, and originally had a watt saving mentioned in the ads without saying what it was compared to, but factually, its position negates any proposed aero gains, and I doubt there were many if any.
What it does have going for it, and the reason I bought it, was the fact that I could have this fairly decent aero-ish computer mount PLUS a mount for my light, which I need every day for…
Out front Mount
Mount fit perfectly. Wished the removable light attachment slid on/off more easily, but no way it’ll come off on its own.
