SILCA LIMITED WARRANTY

Parts covered by SILCA Limited Warranty are considered to be subject to wear through normal use or are consumable subject to degradation through the course of their daily use.  SILCA guarantees them free from manufacturer defects for 2 years.

Compared to standard butyl rubber bicycle inner tubes, latex tubes are considerably more elastic (10x elongation compared to 2-3x). More importantly, Latex Rubber has significantly lower coefficient of damping which means that when latex rubber is stretched or flexed, it returns to shape faster and with less energy loss.

What does this mean for an inner tube?  Latex inner tubes are generally 2-5 Watts (per tire) more efficient at 30mph than tubes made of other materials. They are harder to pinch-flat and offer superior ride quality, especially when combined with supple, low rolling resistance tires. This tube has been sized to fit tires measuring 24-30mm, which will equate to 23-28mm tires used on modern wider rims.  Valve stem length is 42mm and will work in all modern disc wheels.

So why did Josh call this the 'Biggest Bang For Your Buck'?
    • SILCA Latex Inner Tube Upgrade (2 wheels): 4-10 Watts, $42
    • Full Wheelset Ceramic Bearing Upgrade (6 cartridges): 0.8-1 watt savings, $400-1000
    • Ceramic bearing derailleur pulleys: 1-3 Watts, $200-400
    • Newest Aero Road Helmet: 4-8 Watts, $300

Final Sale Items may have damaged packaging, missing packaging, or very small cosmetic blemishes. They are still covered under our standard warranty, but are not eligible for returns.

      Latex Tubes

Well according to the data and reviews latex tubes are free speed as compared to butyl tubes. I only have 60 miles on the bike since installing these, but they didn't flat on the first ride so that is a good sign I got the installation correct without damaging them. I don't know if I can tell any better compliance in the ride vs butyl. Bike isa 2013 Shiv with 80mmHED front and Renn Disc rear.

      NICE

A few rides with these now, paired with some wider tires and lower tire pressure has created a smoother ride. Nice that valve extenders were available, but wish they weren’t quite so long (wheels are 42mm), and while the valve extenders don’t leak, they don’t screw all the way into the valves, just a cosmetic issue. The included “speedshields” are also a nice touch but I’m having problems with the adhesive, they won’t stay flush to the rim, despite cleaning and prepping the area prior to installing.
