Inspired by advancements in running shoe foam and F1 tires as well as our own research into rolling efficiency, impedance and damping, we realized that new materials technology could allow for a significant improvement in bar tape. Using a laminate of SILCAthane, SILCAlon and 3M Visco-elastic adhesive instead of a single foam extrusion, the tape can be optimized across a range of desired features. The resulting tape has a softer, more comfortable feel, higher wet and dry grip, better vibration isolation, and 3-5x the durability of existing tape materials. Since the actual wrap of the tape can be as important as the tape itself, we’ve also developed a full adhesive-backed ‘butterfly’ to better cover the back of the lever clamp area without adding bulk, a high grip finishing tape and expanding aluminum/composite end plugs to ensure every detail is perfect.

Great, very confortable in año condition
For two years through the Covid pandemic, I have been fighting with my bar tape. I ride 170 miles per week or so and that's mostly commuting to work. Often, I'll ride more on the weekends. After fighting with my third botched installation of $20 bar tape from REI, I finally gave in and had a bike mechanic wrap my bars for me. I decided to splurge and drop $50 on this Nastro Cuscino tape and WOW does it make a difference. Honestly I think most Silca products are overpriced status items* so I was hesitant to buy. But this tape? I have one word to describe it: bulletproof. This is the most comfortable tape I've ever had on my handlebars since I started cycling regularly, which was over 10 years ago. 10 miles in the saddle? 100? No problem! It's grippy as all heck on even the hottest, most humid days without gloves. It's as plush as a La-Z-Boy chair. The finishing strip hasn't gone wonky on me, and *the tape hasn't moved a hair* since I had it wrapped. The outer coating on this tape protects it from any kind of blemishes if I lean the bike against walls, etc. This tape just *feels* great. I love it. Yeah I spent $80 at my local bike shop to have new bar tape installed but I know the tape is going to last forever. When I finally wear it out (if I don't die or sell the bike first!) I'm definitely going to buy another box. Please, Silca: never stop making this tape! I'm a customer for life! * Sorry, Silca. Change my mind. Send me a seat bag to review :) ** Also, could you please make a tape with a color pattern like Cinelli's Caleido tape? I'd buy it in a heartbeat to replace the Cinelli Caleido tape I wrapped (and rewrapped) on my other bike.
This is the first time I've installed bar tape myself, and I was worried about the results since some people have claimed that Nastro tape is hard to wrap without wrinkles. I found it very easy to work with, following Josh's video instructions which emphasize the importance of pulling HARD on the tape since it doesn't stretch easily. As you can see in the picture, the project turned out great . Not only do I love the looks of the tape (this is my daughter's bike, she selected the color) but it also has a great feel and provides plenty of cushion.
Love this tape, its great for long rides and racing. Will buy for rest of bikes
Comfort as it advertises.!! And very good grip even my hand sweat. One thing to comment that it is a bit too short when roll out onto my 40cm handle bar. I have to stress it quite hard to get it wrap to the end (see picture)
