Tips for Maintaining Your Investment:
Every Ride: Wipe down the chain to remove larger debris from the chain
Every 100-Mile Replenishment: Apply a drop of Super Secret Chain Coating to each roller, cycling drivetrain backwards 10-12 times to fully penetrate, allow it to dry, and wipe off excess before riding
Every 800-1000 Mile Maintenance: Remove chain, dip in boiling water to clean, use Secret Chain Blend Hot Wax treatment, allow the chain to cure, reinstall chain, and ride
I have been a chain waxer for about 3 years so I recognize the benefits in terms of a quiet drivetrain, a faster drivetrain and dramatically decreased component wear. However, to me the worst part is getting a new chain clean so the option of buying a pre-waxed chain from Silca seemed like the obvious smart play as once it is cleaned, waxing is really pretty easy. Easily worth the price difference, especially when you consider how long a waxed chain will typically last. If you want to get into waxing and place just about any value on your own time, this is the way to go!

Ok but unfortunately not great.
The chain is suppose to be waxed but the wax seems good on one side but on the other side it seems like the wax is clumped heavy in small area with virtually no wax in other areas of that side of the chain almost like waxing was rushed or after chain out of wax it was layed on something taking wax off from one dide.

We are working to improve the appearance of the chains as they cool in a tray that leaves wax marks on one side. The good news is that this is purely a cosmetic issue because the wax on the inner and outer plates still dries which is where it needs to be for optimal performance. After one ride those grid marks should be all but gone.

Worth the Price!
If you don't want your wife/partner/room mate asking what you're doing in the kitchen with a sous vide bag and a bike chain then get the pre-waxed chain.
